Motorcycles have now become more popular than ever and with the possibilities available in the way of customising your vehicle now so varied it is nearly possible for you to customise your motorcycle in any way you want. Previously it was only possible to buy a custom motor bike from a garage but this was very expensive in some cases, where as now you can buy home build kits so you are provided with all the parts you need and a full set of instructions for you to follow meaning you cut out the cost of the labour.
Complete custom motorcycle kits usually consist of an engine, chassis kit, exhaust systems, tires, steel tanks and other metal parts, taillights, various controls, a seat, headlamp and many more parts that are essential to the building of the bike. To finish your motorcycle, you will need paint and sometimes battery acid. Most custom kits do not provide mirrors, speedometers or other accessories so those you will have to buy separately. One of the main things to take into consideration when building your motorcycle is where you are going to build it some of the things you need to consider when planning the place you are going to build it are:
- Ventilation – you will need to think about this as one of the main things other wise you could be breathing in fumes from paint, gasoline etc. As well as this later on once the bike is completed you will have to have a ventilated space to carry out maintenance on the exhaust etc.
- Size – This is also a main factor when thinking about where to use as your work space as you will have to have enough space for all the required tools and the actual bike itself.
If you will be using the space for maintenance as well then you may want to consider including a space for welding and painting. - Electricity – you will have to think about whether you will have to add any sockets to the area for tools, heating etc.
To have a customised motorcycle you don’t have to build a bike from scratch you can simply add different parts to it, and this is fairly easy to do by yourself. Parts that you can add on to your motorcycle include exhausts, seats, handle bars, mirrors and many more. It just depends entirely on what you want your bike to look like and how you want it to perform.
